What the National Weather Service confirmed
Every entry below is a Local Storm Report filed for Bexar County on the night of September 11, 2026. No wind reports were filed with this storm, which means damage in these neighborhoods is hail impact rather than wind.

Four reports in ten minutes along one line. The shaded corridor is the estimated track the storm cell took, based on where and when each report came in. Storm reports only exist where somebody was awake and called them in, so the real hail field is almost certainly wider than these four points. Treat the rings as intensity, not as a property level damage boundary. Hail falls in streaks, and a house a few blocks off a point can be hit harder than one right next to it.

Confirmed damage Damage confirmed on the ground, Saturday morning
These photos were taken by our owner on a roof in the 78239 corridor on the morning of September 12, 2026, hours after the storm. The marks circled in chalk are hail bruises: the mat under the shingle is fractured and the protective granules have been knocked off. This is exactly what an insurance adjuster looks for, and it is very hard to see from the ground.
Hail bruise circled in chalk, granule loss visible Repeated impact marks across one slope Hand for scale next to a fresh hail strike Marked hit near the ridge line If your roof is in or near this corridor, the damage on your home can look identical and you will not see it from the driveway.
Why 1.75 inch hail matters on a shingle roof
1.00" Quarter size is the point where hail begins to cause functional damage to asphalt shingles, not just cosmetic marks.
1.75" Golf ball size routinely fractures the mat on composition shingles and bruises the underlying layer, which shortens the life of the roof even when nothing is visibly missing.
0 Wind reports filed with this storm. Damage in these neighborhoods is impact damage, which looks different from wind damage and is easy to miss from the ground.
What you can check yourself, from the ground
- Dents on the AC condenser fins out back
- Dings on gutters, downspouts and metal fascia
- Dents on the mailbox, garage door or grill lid
- Shredded leaves or stripped mulch under trees
- Granules collecting at the bottom of downspouts
- Cracked or shattered skylight covers
Soft metal marks up at sizes that will not always damage a shingle, so dents alone do not prove your roof needs replacing. They do tell you the hail was big enough at your address to be worth a proper look.
What a Legacy inspection involves
We document it
We get on the roof, chalk and photograph every impact we find, and measure the test squares the same way an adjuster does.
You get the report
The full photo report is yours to keep and to file with your insurance carrier. Your carrier decides coverage.
We do the work
If the roof needs replacing, we build it. If it does not, we tell you that and you have documentation for later.
A word about the trucks that show up after a storm
