Back to Blog Cost Guides How Much Should a Roof Repair Cost in San Antonio?
Mark WhiteAugust 9, 20265 min read In San Antonio, minor roof repair cost $250 to $750, moderate repairs run $750 to $2,500, and major repairs involving decking or structural work run $2,500 to $7,000 or more. Most leak repairs we do land in the first two tiers.
The wide range exists because "roof repair" covers everything from resealing one pipe boot to rebuilding a rotted valley. Here is how to tell which tier your problem belongs in before anyone climbs a ladder.
What $250 to $750 Fixes
The minor tier covers the most common San Antonio problems: a handful of wind-lifted or missing shingles, a cracked pipe boot, resealing exposed nail heads, and small flashing touch-ups around vents. These are one-visit jobs.
This tier is also where nail pops and minor chimney flashing separations live. Catching them at this price point is the whole game, because water that gets past them creates the next tier.
What $750 to $2,500 Fixes
The moderate tier is real leak chasing: replacing flashing systems around chimneys or skylights, repairing a section of shingles after hail or a fallen branch, and fixing leaks that have been running long enough to need new underlayment in the affected area.
If a repair estimate in this range does not include finding and fixing the water path, not just the visible shingle damage, keep shopping. Covering the symptom is how you pay twice.
When It Jumps Past $2,500
Major repairs mean the water won: rotted decking that needs replacement at $50 to $75 per sheet, sagging roof sections, or damage spread across multiple planes of the roof. At the top of this tier, the repair-versus-replace math gets serious.
Our rule of thumb: when repair costs cross about 25% of replacement cost on a roof that is 15 or more years old, put the money toward a roof replacement instead. A $5,000 repair on a 20 year old roof is usually money thrown at a roof that is failing anyway.

First trick: the too-cheap repair. A $150 "fix" that smears roofing cement over the problem buys you one dry season and a bigger bill later. Mastic is a bandage, not a repair.
Second trick: the repair that becomes a replacement pitch. Some companies send commission salespeople to every repair call, and every roof mysteriously needs replacing. Get the repair diagnosis in writing with photos. We document every repair with drone and close-up photos so you can see exactly what you are paying for, and our repairs come with a workmanship warranty.
